Hey Clarissa, I’m a huge fan. I as well had a high school wrestling career (though infinitely humble compared to yours) and avidly follow both mma and wrestling and all forms of combat. Anyway, I hope you take the gold. I’m so sick of the dainty cow girls here in austin. Admittedly, I do have a crush on you. you rock.

Hey Chun, We all here @ The Depot are thinking about you. Cherrie from book keeping brought in the picture with you and our President. That was cool. Well can’t wait to see you take the GOLD next saturday.

Hey Clarissa!! Saw you on the opening ceremonies last night! Cherie brought in some pictures of you and her husband with the president that was awesome to see! Cant wait to see you take the GOLD next saturday!! Trying to get management to put it on in the break room!!
Hi Clarissa - First of all I would like to congratulate you on making it to the Olympics! I cannot express how much of an inspiration you have been to me just reading your bio. I, too started wrestling my junior year of high school (from 2002-2004 in the 119/112 div.), and then coached in 2005. I was offered a scholarship to wrestle in college, but I turned it down because I had no plans to continue wrestling in college. Since then, I pretty much lost track of the sport and have been missing it for about a year or so now.
To tell you the truth, I originally was trying to find out if Patricia Miranda had made it to the Olympics because I remember her name from Athens. Then I came across your name and saw the upset, and just HAD to know more! I watched your Olympic Trials match and it almost brought tears to my eyes because I realized that COULD be me. I too, am (full) Chinese, and barely 5′0″ tall.
After I quit wrestling, I’d posted a few of my old high school matches on Youtube just to see if anyone would watch them. Somehow, my matches became a hit, and I was constantly reminded by strangers that I was just wasting my talent. I didn’t really think much of it until I saw your match vs. Miranda and read your story. You are such an inspiration to me; that final push I needed to seriously consider getting back into the sport I love. I wish you the best of luck in Beijing! Say ‘hello’ to our ancestors for me (haha) and bring home the gold!! =D
I’m so happy to see a GIRL from Hawaii be the first to make it to the Olympics! You really devoted yourself. I have wrestled for 3 years but not very seriously for the Big Island. And I wish I could have had the same dedication you do. Congratulations and good luck! =]

I watched your bronze medal match against the UKR girl. Tough break. But hold your head up high! You represented yourself and Hawaii with pride. I wrestled on the Big Island for 8 years (4-high school and 4-club freestyle/greco roman)so I was thrilled to know you made the olympic squad. Your aftermatch TV interview was heartfelt. It broke my heart to see you hurt. But remember what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger! Yes Admittedly I too also have a crush on you. You rock indeed!!!
Aloha! Clarissa-
We are so proud of your performance at the Beijing Games, and it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. We wish continued success and thank you for representing The United States and Hawaii with grit, skill and humility. You are truly one of a kind. Don’t ever forget that!!

Saw you in your last match, you were great, so close! Then saw you and the team at Kokamo in Sanlitun! Fantastic job, let us know where we can send you pics we took!
My name is Clarissa Chun. I recently made the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team for womens wrestling in the 48 kilogram weight class. Earning a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team has meant more to me than anything else. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, friends, and especially my coaches. They have truly helped me get to the top by believing in my potential to acheive my dreams in wrestling.
I am of half Chinese, half Japanese decent. Therefore, this Olympic season in Beijing is very special to my family as well as myself. It would be very nice to be able to bring my family to where our ancestors came from and would definitely bring this journey full circle for all of them.
